Should you build Jiyan?

Jiyan is an Aero main damage dealer whose Liberation replaces his attacks with the three-stage Lance of Qingloong, all counted as Heavy Attack damage. Build at least 30 Resolve before Liberation so Prelude becomes the stronger Finale, then keep attacking through Qingloong Mode while using Windqueller without further Resolve cost.

What to know before spending pulls

His complete Resolve and Qingloong Mode loop works at S0. He benefits strongly from teammates who amplify Heavy Attack damage or add coordinated attacks, such as Iuno or Mortefi. Finish that support pairing and make Liberation consistent before treating an extra copy as required.

Do you need the signature weapon?

Verdant Summit is Jiyan's featured weapon. At level 90 it has 588 ATK and 48.6% Crit DMG. It grants 12% Attribute DMG Bonus, while Intro and Liberation each grant 24% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus for 14 seconds, stacking twice. This directly matches Finale and every Lance of Qingloong hit. Autumntrace is the accessible 4-star option with 413 ATK and 20.3% Crit Rate. Basic or Heavy Attack damage grants 4% ATK for 7 seconds, stacking five times. Verdant Summit has the stronger burst package; Autumntrace builds a straightforward ATK bonus during Qingloong Mode.

Another character copy or the weapon?

S1 means Jiyan's first Resonance Chain upgrade. Windqueller gains a second charge and its Resolve cost outside Qingloong Mode falls from 30 to 15. Verdant Summit instead supplies Crit DMG and up to 48% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus through Intro and Liberation. S1 adds another Skill cast and preserves more Resolve during setup; the weapon strengthens Finale and the entire transformed attack string. His core Liberation loop works without either.

Advice for your account

New account using Autumntrace

Lance of Qingloong repeatedly deals Heavy Attack damage, so it naturally builds the weapon's five ATK stacks during the main window.

Account using Lustrous Razor

Its 12.8% Energy Regen helps reach Liberation, and Windqueller builds Liberation damage stacks. The transformed Lance attacks count as Heavy Attack damage, so the passive is less directly aligned than Verdant Summit.

Team with Iuno or Mortefi

Use the Heavy Attack support's Outro before Jiyan enters. Keep Jiyan active through Qingloong Mode so the amplification or coordinated attacks cover as many Lance hits as possible.

Rotation and troubleshooting

Easy rotation

Enter through Intro to deal damage, gain Resolve, and activate Jiyan's 10% ATK inherent skill. Use normal attacks until Resolve reaches at least 30. Cast Liberation to spend 30 Resolve on Emerald Storm Finale and enter Qingloong Mode. Use the three-stage Lance of Qingloong string repeatedly; every hit counts as Heavy Attack damage. Cast Windqueller during the mode for its automatic 20% damage increase without spending Resolve, then return to Lance attacks until Qingloong Mode ends. Build Concerto Energy and use Outro into a character who can land Heavy Attacks during the next eight seconds.

Opening vs. repeat cycles

Intro helps build the 30 Resolve required for Finale. Without Intro, normal attack hits are the only listed Resolve source at S0. Resolve begins to fall if Jiyan goes 15 seconds without hitting a target, so avoid building it too early before a long teammate setup.

Why this skill priority

Forte Circuit, Liberation, and Resonance Skill lead because they define Resolve spending, Finale, Qingloong Mode, the Heavy Attack-classified Lance string, and the enhanced Windqueller. Basic Attack and Intro follow as the sources used to build Resolve before transformation.

Required buffs and assumptions

The stronger Liberation opener assumes at least 30 Resolve at cast time. Qingloong Mode changes Basic, Heavy, and Dodge Counter into Lance of Qingloong, so their inputs share the same Heavy Attack damage classification. Outro's coordinated lance requires the incoming character to land a Heavy Attack and can trigger only twice within eight seconds.

Energy Regen target

No minimum Energy Regen target is listed in the current build data. Liberation enables nearly the entire Heavy Attack window, so Energy Regen becomes valuable when the team cannot cast it every cycle. Lustrous Razor directly supplies 12.8% Energy Regen.

Troubleshooting

Liberation casts Prelude instead of the stronger Finale

Likely cause: Jiyan had fewer than 30 Resolve when Liberation was cast.

Check: Read the Resolve gauge immediately before pressing Liberation.

Fix: Enter through Intro and land normal attacks until at least 30 Resolve is stored, then cast Liberation.

Resolve disappears before Jiyan's damage window

Likely cause: Jiyan went more than 15 seconds without hitting a target.

Check: Review how long the team setup lasted after Jiyan last attacked.

Fix: Build Resolve closer to the handoff or return briefly to Jiyan for a hit before the decay condition is reached.

Jiyan's Outro produces no coordinated lance

Likely cause: The incoming character did not land a Heavy Attack within eight seconds.

Check: Confirm Jiyan left through Outro and the next character's attack is explicitly classified as Heavy Attack damage.

Fix: Outro into a Heavy Attack user and land the qualifying attacks promptly; the effect can trigger at most twice.

How to Play

Recover Forte Gauge for Basic Attack, Resonance Skill, or Intro Skill on hit. Cast enhanced Resonance Skill when Forte Gauge is above 50%. Source: Wuthering Waves Fandom wiki (https://wutheringwaves.fandom.com/wiki/Jiyan/Combat), community content under CC BY-SA.
