Should you build Jingran?
Jingran is a Fusion Heavy Attack DPS built around repeatedly gaining his self-generated Shield. Thousandfold Deliverance supports his HP scaling and rewards those Shield gains; S1 instead raises the multipliers of four named Resonance Skills. Tacet Codex does not yet have a controlled comparison that proves which is the better first investment.
What to know before spending pulls
His current build list contains four 5-star weapons: Thousandfold Deliverance, Thunderflare Dominion, Verdant Summit, and Radiance Cleaver. The guide has not yet reviewed a 4-star alternative, which is a gap in this guide rather than proof that a weapon-banner pull is required. Wait for that review before treating a limited weapon as necessary to play him.
Do you need the signature weapon?
Thousandfold Deliverance (signature): 413 ATK, 72.2% HP secondary stat at max level. Its passive grants a flat 12% All-Attribute DMG Bonus, then stacks Nature's Order (Crit DMG up to +24%, plus +12% Heavy Attack Crit Rate at 6 stacks) and Cradle of Life (Heavy Attack DEF ignore up to 30%) from casting his Intro Skill or gaining a Shield. Thunderflare Dominion, the next weapon in his own build list: 675 ATK, 12.2% Crit Rate secondary. Its passive adds ATK +12%, then +20% Heavy Attack DMG for 15s after his Intro Skill or a Resonance Skill, and stacks Heavy Attack DEF ignore up to 36% off the same Shield-gain trigger the signature and his Echo set both use. Both weapons key off that identical shield-gain condition, so switching between them doesn't change how you play him. Which one actually deals more team damage in a full rotation hasn't been tested on this site yet.
Another character copy or the weapon?
His S1, 'Yin and Yang in Harmony, the Ultimate Law of Being,' raises the DMG Multiplier of four named Resonance Skills by 80% without an extra activation condition. Thousandfold Deliverance takes a different route: its 72.2% HP secondary stat supports his HP scaling, while its passive adds All-Attribute DMG, stacking Crit DMG, Heavy Attack Crit Rate, and DEF ignore. Owning Thunderflare Dominion also changes the value of the weapon choice because it already supplies Crit Rate, Heavy Attack DMG, and Shield-triggered DEF ignore. These effects cannot be ranked from their descriptions alone. Until Tacet Codex has a controlled rotation comparison, choose the signature when you need the HP-focused weapon package and choose S1 when your current weapon is already strong and you want its direct skill-multiplier increase; neither is established here as the universal winner.
Advice for your account
If you don't have Iuno, Shorekeeper, or Brant, his current Team 2 notes list Mortefi as an alternative for Brant. Mortefi is a 4-star Sub DPS and may be more accessible if you already own him, but that does not make the two lineups equal: the full rotation and survivability tradeoff have not been tested here. His Echo set and weapon activation are unaffected by the swap because Jingran supplies the required Shield himself while attacking.
If you've built toward his Team 1 (Jingran, Iuno, Shorekeeper) but don't have Iuno, his own build notes name the fix directly: run Lupa in that slot instead and keep Shorekeeper for sustain. Iuno's own Heavy Attack buff matches Jingran's kit better than Lupa's Basic Attack buff does, so don't expect the swap to be free, but it doesn't touch his Echo set or weapon activation either way: that Shield comes from Jingran's own kit, not from whichever support is in the third slot.
If Jingran is already built, compare the gap each upgrade fills. S1 directly raises four Resonance Skill multipliers. His signature adds an HP secondary stat and several Shield-driven offensive effects. A player using a weaker weapon may gain more kinds of value from the signature, while someone who already owns a strong alternative such as Thunderflare Dominion has less reason to assume the weapon is automatically the better purchase. Tacet Codex has not run the controlled rotation comparison needed to rank S1 and the signature reliably.

Rotation and troubleshooting
Provisional starting rotation
Open with his Intro Skill, then immediately use Resonance Liberation. Liberation refills a large chunk of his Forte resource on its own and hands you several stacks that each refund resource back when you land a Heavy Attack, which is what lets you chain roughly four Heavy Attacks in a row afterward without stopping to build resource between them. Cast those Heavy Attacks back to back, then swap out on his Outro Skill once the chain runs dry. The Shield from his own kit is already active through this whole sequence, since it triggers off his dealing damage, not off a separate button.
Opening vs. repeat cycles
The opener above (Intro into Liberation into the Heavy Attack chain) is also close to his repeat rotation on later cycles, since Liberation is what supplies most of his resource each time. The main difference later on is that Ghost Shroud and Fortune in Disguise carry over between rotations rather than starting from zero, so a repeat cycle's Fusion DMG bonus from Fortune in Disguise is usually higher than it was on the very first cycle.
Why this skill priority
His build data already lists the talent order (Forte Circuit first, Resonance Liberation second, Basic Attack and Resonance Skill tied for third, Intro Skill last). Forte and Liberation lead because Forte Circuit unlocks Upstream Along Santu and Liberation is Burial of Thousand Souls, the two skills most of his named DMG-scaling effects reference by name; Intro Skill sits last because it's a one-time opener (Question the Tombs, cast once per team rotation) rather than something you cast repeatedly, so extra levels on it return less than on a skill you use every cycle.
Required buffs and assumptions
Jingran shields himself automatically while he's actively dealing damage: the effect refreshes roughly twice a second and lasts a few seconds each time, so as long as he's on the field attacking, the Shield stays up on its own. That's what Lamp of Nether Road's 5pc, both weapon passives, and his own Ghost Shroud stacking all read off. It isn't provided by a teammate or a specific Echo, and it doesn't change between his three listed teams. What it does need is uptime: if he's off-field, stunned, or not landing hits for more than a few seconds, the Shield lapses and every one of those effects stops reading it until he starts attacking again.
Troubleshooting
Lamp of Nether Road isn't giving the +20% Crit Rate or +15% Fusion DMG
Likely cause: The Shield keeps lapsing before it retriggers.
Check: Check whether Jingran is actually landing hits often enough to keep refreshing his own Shield, and whether he's spending long stretches off-field or getting interrupted.
Fix: Keep him attacking; the Shield is self-sourced and doesn't need a specific teammate or Echo, but it does need him to be on-field and connecting hits regularly.
Thousandfold Deliverance or Thunderflare Dominion's stacking passive never ramps up
Likely cause: Same Shield-uptime issue as the Echo set.
Check: Track whether Nature's Order/Cradle of Life (signature) or the DEF-ignore stacks (Thunderflare Dominion) are actually incrementing during a fight.
Fix: If they aren't moving, he isn't landing enough hits to keep his own Shield refreshed. This is a rotation/uptime issue, not a broken build.
Fortune in Disguise's Fusion DMG bonus feels weaker than expected
Likely cause: It's Max-HP-scaled (0.05% Fusion DMG per 1000 Max HP per stack, up to 2.5% per stack, 50-stack cap) and built from Ghost Shroud, which also needs his Shield to be active to generate stacks.
Check: Check your current HP stat and whether Ghost Shroud is actually accumulating before you cast your Intro Skill.
Fix: Low HP investment caps this passive regardless of Shield uptime; low Shield uptime caps it regardless of HP investment. Fix whichever one is actually missing.
